Getting a Motorcycle License

Operating a motorcycle has a separate set of requirements from driving a car or truck. The North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles requires a motorcycle learner's permit or endorsement on the driver's provisional, normal, or commercial driver's license. This means you need to pass a written test, along with road sign identification and vision tests, along with a motorcycle road test on top of your normal license.

North Carolina State Motorcycle Insurance Laws

According to the North Carolina Department of Insurance, anyone operating a motorcycle or motor scooter needs a minimum of liability insurance. Mandatory state limits are a minimum of $30,000 per person and $60,00 per accident for bodily injury liability and$25,000 for property damage liability.
